Texture – Unlimited Magazines App Reviews

Indispensable!

Saw that Texture was one of the App Stores "Best of 2016"; five minutes later Id signed up for a monthly paid account. Im admittedly a magazine addict. I am one of those people who buys every magazine at the airport newsstand, then guiltily disposes of them weeks later (or maybe sometimes months later, to my husbands chagrin). And, as someone who *already* subscribes to far too many print publications -- then guiltily tosses those out, often unread, too -- I give this app a big thumbs-up for cutting down on both clutter and paper waste. What impresses me most, however, is the UI. A "most popular articles" feed? A "curated articles" feed? My God, its everything Ive ever wanted! Best of all, Texture offers the "digital" versions of magazines when available -- GQ and Esquires iPad editions are especially futuristic and glitzy. Some of my favorite "niche" publications arent here, which is fine. Just the fact that I can regularly read both Us Weekly *and* TIME Magazine within the same app is worth a lot more to me than what Im paying. Nice job, Texture! (Please never leave me)

The Netflix of magazines

Nice, good quality app. The magazine pages and images are crystal clear. A lot of the magazines have cool interactive features. I thought Id only like viewing magazines on my iPad, but a lot of the featured articles are adapted to the smaller iPhone screen.

Gutenberg 2.0

Texture is truly awesome. It finally put to to rest figuring out which magazines to subscribe to to get the best value. Now I can juggle liberal and conservative thought leaders alongside technology innovators. Simply having The New Yorker, Wired, National Review (yes, I have been reading conservative thought leaders since the 1980s) as well as many other excellent pubs like MacWorld and PC Magazine...I just think its great. Although my punctuation has gone awry, the excellent writers and editors have retained theirs in all their ink-stained wrench converted to digital glory. I get so much more out of this app than pretty much any digital product. Although I worked in newspapers and have a literary arts and music performance background my longing for newsprint has finally subsided and a worthy replacement has been revealed. Texture alongside Stitcher radio podcast aggregator are the main methods I receive variety of news and information. I have made it a point to include alternate and conflicting viewpoints in my reading and podcast listening for a more well rounded continuing education approach. Someone needs to make sure the Windows 10 version gets updated and also some magazines format in a way that requires to small pages vs having one landscape page and some magazines in Windows 10 version do not allow to zoom or increase font size so theres that. Texture could force developers to include these options in their submissions from publishers as part of accessibility requirements. All in all, I think Texture could save the planet with readers gaining a fact-based approach to developing their opinions and also gaining from the longer perspective including historical references and context versus modern medias need for eyeballs and clickbate/ratings circus social media and cable news dumbfoolery.

Excellent

I love being able to read my favorite magazines without having to subscribe to them individually. Its also nice to have this access on my smartphone instead of shlepping around a bunch of magazines. By subscribing to Texture, Im saving both money and the environment. Such a deal.

Unbelievable

This app is going to save me a lot of money! Love the selection of magazines and do not miss the paper. My TV time is really going to suffer.

Love magazines

I love reading magazines. Texture is one way of me getting a lot of great articles at one low price.

Amazing!

Great selection, easy to use, economical and good for the environment. Love this service.

Great App

Love the easy access to magazines & being able to save articles, well done

Perfect!

This is the best app ever. I was worried about how much it would cost to have subscriptions to all the magazines I love. But now I dont have to! Ive already gone through 5 different magazines and its only been a day! I absolutely love this app. Im recommending it to everyone.

Just plain Super

Great layout, no need to go anywhere else to read magazines Paper magazine just build up in your home. You lose the paper copy and you dont The time to read them.

Mag Heaven

I like good articles that are well written so Im not just a one magazine reader. But I couldnt justify the expense of multiple subscriptions. This app sounded too good to be true but it is the real deal. I love the fact an issue can be downloaded to read off line when wifi isnt available. Plenty of variety to please most. Im currently in the free trial period but Im definitely " IN"!

No iPad 12.9 inch optimization

I love the idea of having one subscription to all the magazines I like, and this app is going to be the most useful on an iPad-even better on the 12.9 inch one. However the app is not not optimized for it. It just has the regular iPad screen zoomed in. So the images look blurry and text on the image is pixelated. The purpose of this idea would be to make an iPad feel like a magazine and it fails as the images are not clear at all.

Magazine Addicts Dream

Excellent magazine selection. Ability to download issues a plus for offline reading. Im a fan after the free trial.

My new favorite app

I have loved magazines since I was a kid and this app is amazing! Im eliminating the paper clutter and have so many great titles at my fingertips. Now I just need an iPad with more storage because each magazine download is a big file. Love, love, love it!

Love it

Love it. Like it better then getting magazines in the mail and I get a email every time there is a available magazine. Like Netflix but for magazines.

Great content but the "Share" function has never worked

I love this app and could not live without it. The breadth of content is amazing. My only complaint is that the "Share" function simply does not work and never has. I would like to store my magazine clippings in another app but theres no way to export those PDFs from Texture. The options exist - save to iBooks, save to Notes, email, etc. - but they dont work. I hope to see this fixed finally in an upcoming release. Otherwise I love Texture!

Handy app!

My reading interest have expanded simply due to the convenient access to so many magazines. I highly recommend this app to anyone who enjoys spending time reading.

This is my favorite app!

I am a bit of a hybrid when it comes to digital vs. tangible anything. Textures inclusive magazine access is phenomenal! Who wouldnt want to have all access?? Secondly I am GREEN! No more tossing out old magazines.

Call to cancel?

Should not have to call to cancel a subscription. Also, there is no web or desktop interface, restricting use.

My device is useful now!

Great App! Now I have many things to read that do not have the word Trump. Until I got Texture, I felt I would have to only use my iPhone as a phone since I gave up on news.
